FOUNDATION PROGRAMME - START YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN JOURNEY

Interested in interior design but not sure where to begin? Our six-month Foundation Programme is for complete beginners and career changers who want to learn the basics and understand what goes into a real design project.

You’ll work through a project from the first client brief onwards. It encompasses such things as analysing the property, planning space, creating concepts, selecting colours and materials, designing with furniture and lighting, and budgeting and project management.

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

Understand client briefs and what a project needs
Look at properties, room layouts and how people use a space
Create concepts and moodboards from your initial ideas
Learn about colour, materials, finishes and lighting
Explore furniture, FF&E and the basics of bespoke joinery
Get familiar with budgets, costings and project planning
Learn how to communicate with clients, suppliers and contractors
Work towards a portfolio as you develop your skills

Learn Through Practical Project Work

Live teaching and professional studio critique sessions take place twice each week, giving you regular opportunities to ask questions, discuss your work and learn from Sofiya’s experience.

WHAT IS THE ACADEMY COMMUNITY?

It is a space where students can keep in touch outside the live sessions. You can discuss your projects, ask questions, share work and talk about the things you are learning.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAMME WORK?

You’ll learn by working through different situations that come up during an interior design project. This includes understanding a client, developing a design, presenting your ideas, dealing with changes, working on specifications and costings, and learning about the steps involved in getting a project delivered.

A COMMUNITY FOR ASPIRING DESIGNERS

You won’t be learning in isolation. The Academy community gives you a place to talk about design, share ideas and see what other students are working on.

This programme is a starting point for people who have an interest in interior design but do not have professional experience. It can also suit those thinking about changing careers or wanting to learn more before taking their first step into the industry.
